Hey All,

My name is Chris and I registered for Ecomodders a while back but haven't had time to actually participate until now. I have a couple of things kicking around that I will be trying in the near future, one is a Locost-like vehicle powered by an engine from a small diesel pickup running veg-oil and the other is something along the lines of VW's "1 Liter Car", powered by a smallish motorcycle engine/trans. The way it looks right now, the smaller "1-Liter-like" car will come first just because it will require less raw materials. In any event, I won't be getting started on anything until I have a place to work which will be addressed this coming spring - 3 car garage coming soon! My background is in aviation and as such, I tend toward the simplest approach to deal with things, so I will be trying to avoid engineering an engine management system etc. and will go with low drag and small frontal areas to get results that may not be the best they can be, but will be good enough for me.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Chris - congrats on a successful de-lurking, and welcome to the forum.

It would be great to see someone actually go through with a "hypercar" build. Good luck getting the work space sorted out!

Thanks. I don't intend to build a hyper-car, the Locost would be along the lines of the "real" Lotus 7, relatively skinny tires and very light. I'll let the Cobra clone builders go for max performance. The "1 Liter Car" will definitely not be high performance - I am figuring on something like a Kawasaki 250 Ninja powerplant. Though I may go with a Suzuki GS500 since I live at 6600' elevation and non-boosted engines wheeze pretty badly here.

Oh - should have clarified: "hypercar" is about max performance, but of the efficiency kind, not the Cobra acceleration/handling kind.

EG: see Custom mini hypercar in this thread: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ding-1280.html

Looks like that word came from Amory Lovins at the Rocky Mountain Institute: http://www.rmi.org/sitepages/pid191.php
