#2 was aluminum angle and channel drilled and screwed together that would only be sturdy enough with a lot of crossbracing. Carpal tunnel forced abandonment, but it was also looking ugly. On that note though I was looking a lot at how geodesic domes were constructed for inspiration.

And with my deepest regards to Dr. Fuller, I just don't got a whole lot of "try" left in me. I'm scared to death If I think too hard I'll find some minor flaw which would make me scrap the whole thing and start over.
My get-up-and-go has got up and went (as they say) so my think/do ratio is going up.

I keep trying to adapt geodesics to streamlining, for buildability's sake. Triangles are tedious, but with diamonds or hexagons you have fewer edges.

I am selling my Brett Herndon Aerolid for a 6.5 ft bed for $1,500. It is Tuxedo Black and works great. We are buying a 5th wheel trailer and need some up front cash for the purchase. You may see my Aerolid on my forum postings. I will post it in the for sale section and other places as soon as I get on line. You can reach me at 575-635-0982

drrbc You could take your post down. I like a good joke as much as the next guy but I am not appreciating this one in the context of what I am trying to do here. Thanks in advance.

I changed it Aerostealth.

drrbc, it would have been a good idea to walk away a fourth time and and delete it. This is a warning to keep the jokes respectable and please, no more sly sexual jokes. Our visitors deserve better.

I like your idea, as complex as it may be! Continue the discussion and add pictures, as we need them to get a visual

Done. Still wish I could get one for a short bed in white. Even at $1500 it'd paid for the time involved trying to do it on my own. My apologies Gents!

Can't be that much to paint? I am more concerned about how to hook up with a out of state buyer? I am willing to drive some, depends on the situation.

The paint isn't the problem- I've already got the paint (from a prior mishap). The real problem is that the length of my bed is 65 inches (5'5") and the Aerolid is 78 (6'6").

Actually, I guess the real problem is that I'm still kinda wondering if this is something I could make work with a jig saw and duck tape (but right now I'm guessing I prolly shouldn't try). What I will do though is keep an eye out for anyone that might be interested, how's that?

It is all good. If you we're to modify it you would have to cut off the back end I would think? It would be tricky. Thanks for the thought though.
