The original insight sold for around $20k if I recall. The rumor mill is the Prius C will cost ~$4k less than the Prius which puts it just below $20k.

No, it'll probably be $20k+ and they won't have any trouble selling at that price. Or they'll do the whole stupid $19,995 for the stripped out model with plastic hub caps and wind up windows.

Agree ...

Initial Data looks like the Prius C has too many weight and aerodynamic disadvantages compared to the Gen-1 Insight ... looks to have too large of a gap for the ICE to be able to make up the difference compared to the Lean Burn Window... outside of lean burn of course is a very different animal.

Still like you I also look forward to seeing what they do come up with ... and I fully expect it to have significantly better stop and go efficiency than the OEM Gen-1 Insight... and the additional seats might be useful for some people ... not me ... but maybe someone else.

I think this is a good direction to go in ... and I'm glad Toyota is doing it

So in other words it is almost the same price as getting a real prius? Originally there was talk of the $15995, much better point And heck I would take it with plastic hub caps and wind up windows, I have no use for electric locks and windows, they could also get rid of the darn chipped ignition as well and have a mechanical rotary button radio Ah I can dream.

Anyway, It better have a good MPG gap to make it worthwhile. If its light enough it should work well with the Prius forced P&G methods

If it is $20K+ it will be a good long while before I get rid of my 48mpg average $10k new cobalt to move up to 50-60mpgish vehicle.

Perhaps used in 10years.
