New twist to my day job
Hybrid PTO boom operation idle mitigation with cab comfort system. The company I work for is purchasing Hybrid bucket trucks for electric powerline maintenance. Our regular trucks require the Diesel engine to run at an elevated idle to power the boom to lift the lineman and equipment to the pole tops. There is technology out there to to power our boom requirements by battery power packs. We have some early versions that run on lead acid 48 volt systems. I went to a two day training session on the newer 4KW lithium ion 12/24 volt systems. Very impressive and I am looking forward to next years new trucks. Here are a couple pics of the power unit.
