Newest addition to my stable w126 300sdl

I have wanted a turbo and or diesel for a while, finally pulled the trigger on a 200k mile 1986 300sdl. I got the car for a steal from a young man tried to bring it back from the dead.

Previous owner replaced the injection pump, one fuel filter and ? He claims to have spent a lot of money.

I think the injectors need torn apart, cleaned and possibly new nozzles.

I've been changing filters, chopping mufflers and general preventative maintenance to start, but eventually want this to replace my z28 for daily duties.

I guess I'll have to fix the odometer for any future aba testing but now, tires at maxed inflation, going in for an alignment, hopefully the tech understand "zero toe" and maybe a slight altitude adjustment.

Anyone with experience or links, please feel free to add some .02

That's all I have as of now. I'll try to get a few more as parts come in. I was very impressed by with the oil change process on this vehicle.

Good luck with your alignment. My experiences over the years with alignment "techs" is that most are at best sloppy and only marginally competent.

I would have to agree on the incompetence of most mechanics, especially here in the sunshine state. I do know a local guy who may even let me use his alignment rack.

I've been eyeing some water methanol injection kits, I may try a diy/budget friendly approach. If anyone has a line on a pump, let me know. I'm partial to 12v dc but was also considering engine driven.

Thank you spdfrk, some things on this car really require guidance. How is your cousin's car going?

I ordered a boost gauge on fleabay, still looking for some proper nozzles, solenoids, lines, etc for either wmi or propane. I found a couple good links but have no time to see if they listed sources, part numbers, etc.

Cousin's car is fine. He's a diesel mechanic turned fire inspector. He got it from some old guy for a deal with low miles and the interior is mint. Think he said he had a pesky power steering leak but that was about it. Rides like you're on a cloud.

I bought a boost gauge today. Still on the make it run and drive correctly before modifying.

I'm thinking another three or four weeks I'll start gathering water methanol injection components. I really just want to buy a kit and call it done, but I'm cheap.

Two days of light trips seem to show a proper healthy boost range.

I changed the remaining fuel filter yesterday. Whole new car. Less smoke, more power and more exhaust volume.

Does anyone know anything about the Bosch econogauge? I have an innovative brand wideband oxygen sensor but no gauge for it.
