The effect of higher gas prices has also shown up in the cars Canadians are buying. Chrysler Canada Inc. president Reid Bigland said yesterday that his company set a record in 2007 for sales of vehicles with four-cylinder engines. Chrysler sold about 50,000 cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles with four-cylinder engines last year, more than 1/3 higher than the number of vehicles with four-cylinder engines sold in 2006.

Interesting that they should quote Chrysler sales of more efficient engines compared to 2006 sales in the same week we learned that the parent US company, DaimlerChrysler, faced a record $30M CAFE fine for failing to meet CAFE rules in the 2006 model year.
