Come to think of it..if gm gets bailout, what is it that they are doing NOW that will keep them coming back for more handouts? They say they need a liferaft to 2010 when their Volt comes out?How will an electric car save their butt?Toyota/honda have that segment wrapped up already. It will take gm 3 yrs at least to get a foothold in that sector.

The real sad thing is that we allow toyota and honda to build cars here with cheap labor etc. and gm is providing decent living wages and will go bankrupt because of this undercutting. On top of that, heres another argument for national healthcare:the healthcare costs gm provides adds 1500$ to each car.
Now what do we have to show for it?Still no healthcare system, lost jobs and a bankrupt industry that is/was a cornerstone of the economy.

I think the Volt will sell exceptionally well asuming it does not have an obsene purchase price. For the people that do daily short trips it presents the prospect of never having to buy gas again for day to day use.
