News: New Hampshire May Raise Speed Limit to 70 & ticket slowpokes

Northeastern states have steadfastly held at the 65 MPH limit.

Now, New Hampshire wants to raise the limit to...

According to the theNewspaper.com,

Quote:
The New Hampshire state House Transportation Committee on Tuesday [15-Jan-2008] heard testimony on legislation that would make New Hampshire the first northeastern state to increase its maximum speed limit to 70 MPH since the federal government ordered the state to drop its speed limits from 70 MPH to 55 MPH in 1974.
Isn't this backwards-incompatibility? The article goes on to mention that slow-drivers in the fast lane could be targeted for ticketing.

Well, we are at War. So, let's ration!

My Grandparents had a lot of these old items -- I recently acquired a lot of family history items from WWII. I just need to sort through it all -- I'm sure ration books are in there for sure.

This will go over like a cement balloon, but we really need to bring back a national limit. 55 is ideal, but with more aero these days and the tolerance of the public, 60 might be a good compromise.

Lots of people would be VERY vocal about it, but at least we have the AARP folks lobbying for a lowered limit

I think they should change their motto to "live oil-dependent or die."

32 states have speed limits of 70 or more. Texas you can do 75 mph which really means 85 mph. Did not our President say we need to break or dependence on oil? This would be a good place to start.

Here's the list for those that are interested.
