Metasquirt has nearly unlimited options for toyota and mazda because they have been using VVT for nearly 20 years.
Some one will come out with a GM VVT controller that is well under $1,700. Mast was the first to come out with the controller, they wont be the last.

I think there is some software available to hack into the GM computer and manipulate the VVT without going to the Mast unit. I will check it out. Might be through EFILive, not sure. I'll get back and post if I find something.

Those are the 2 most common things.
I am not sure of the extent to witch the factory computer can be reprogrammed with EFILive. I have considered the possibility that the OEM computer works so well with EFILive it may be the reason no other aftermarket VVT controllers have poped up. If that is the case I have a lot to learn.

Oh I am well aware the price on these engines.
I want it to be fun and fast and be able to afford to drive it with $4+ a gallon gas.

The VVT pieces can be added to a non VVT motor, and since most people don't want to play with them, they sell all the takeoff pieces for no money. Was told you can pick up the whole set used for $100.00 ( maybe ).

Yes VVT is cheap, I could go get a new VVT setup from the dealer for like $200. On ebay they are cheap as dirt.
