My coworker just lost his first bar on his 2012. He wasn't happy considering how few miles the car had. I had to explain that mileage doesn't matter much for Leaf battery degradation.

I'm at 81% SOH% (my coworker is at 85%)

I figure well before 2020 I'll be able to buy a replacement battery from Nissan or a 3rd party for a couple of thousand and make this Leaf behave like new or better. (old battery was 24 kWh, current talk is that there will be a 30 kWh replacement battery available soon, and possibly better than that by the time I would be looking for a replacement)

It's possible I'll pay sooner than I hit 45% just for the convenience factor. It's also possible that my car is totaled in an accident before then. It's possible I'll want to buy a better car and sell this one for someone else to make the battery replacement decision.

For now I'm not worried about it. That's a decision I can make years down the road.

*I don't actually know what the rate of loss will be. So far in 3 years it is right at 19% so 6% a year is close enough for guesswork. I don't know if the first owner kept the car garaged or not. It may be that my degradation rate will match theirs or it may be slightly slower due to my cool garage.

**It remains to be seen if I can do my coldest winter drive on 40% SOC. If I could I'd be stuck charging on both ends of the drive and would have little leeway for unexpected events.

I hope everyone understands the video of the hundreds of miles range leaf is a pipe dream, not a demonstration.

He said the video represents their eventual goal for someday down the road.

We also discussed on mynissanleaf.com that Japanese speed limits are much lower so the video shows a guy doing much lower speeds to achieve that range.

I am running the stock Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 16" 205/55 tires that our '15 Leaf S came with. They are very low rolling resistance tires - quite similar to the Nokian Hakka R2 winter tires that we also have for this car.

I didn't track regen data properly for a while so I blanked out any data I wasn't sure on the accuracy for that column.

I did add air to the tires around Jun 28th, minor adjustment higher to even out the PSI all around.

recent good trips to and from work around 5.5 miles per kWh one way and 4.5 the other.

I did a small leg to test a charger that afternoon that I didn't bother quoting that accounts for the missing mileage home. That leg was 4.6 miles per kWh but the extra stop and start might account for some of the lower efficiency as well vs the to work trip.

The rest is partially elevation but primarily the extra AC use in the hot evening hours when I'm blasting the AC. I leave the garage with the car around 70F and use minimal AC on the drive to work. On the way home I'm blasting the AC on the hotter days.

The high was around 91F on the 13th but only in the upper 70s on the drive into work. Easily still in the upper 80s on the drive home with the car prebaked sitting on asphalt with no shade in the hottest part of the day. Wind speeds were around 2-6 mph most of the day with no rain.

I learned today that the logging app I'm using is rounding to or truncating on 1 km increments so the mileage in the data I'm getting is down to .6 mile increments. I haven't tested it to see if it has any more accuracy than that or if it is just doing the 1 km equals .6 mile inaccuracy on top of the granularity issue.

I did also get altitude changes in the log data so going forward I'll have altitude gain/loss per trip.

dusted a mustang yesterday, he took the merging lane at a stoplight, I had the far lane. I hit it on the green and could hear his loud pipes at my 5:00 all the way to 45mph (his foot was way into it). Of course I ran out of steam, but he was waiting at the next light for a good 8 seconds while I coasted up. He opted out of a second hole shot contest
