Nissan Leaf TV Commercial!

OMG!

I just saw a television commercial, in the United States, on broadcast television - for an electric car!!!!

This is insane - I never actually thought I would see an honest to goodness EV television commercial!

Well, they actually hardly show any of the car at at, just a tiny glimpse of the charging panel at the end. Mostly, the commercial is more about brand loyalty and the history of Nissan.

Imagine, if you start advertising electric cars on television, the American people might start wanting them!

Uh... might? Most people dont know about the EV1, but wouldve LOVED to get an EV. The Leaf is going to be a huge step for auto-history, and the Volt will also get the revolution running! I see the Volt as the bridge between the normal gas car, and a full EV. I just hope a hydrogen car will be out before I am middle-aged.

This ad also gives me some chills...I like it. It's just like rebuilding the EV1 but having more potential this time.

...announced in Jan'10: USA production in "...Elkhart County, Indiana..."

...wonder if the electronics (especially the computer programming) have to "revised" between the two different battery "packs"?

I hope Nissan will follow up with a stripped version of the Leaf at a much cheaper price. I'd like to see a roll up window, no A/C, no Blue Tooth [and all of the other stuff we don't need] model for like 15-k. Without the power options I'd imagine the range would be extended too. Also, increase the size of the roof solar panel to increase the amount of self charging while parked?

Mike
