New Guy from NC

I really like this site. I think that posting my mileage will encourage me to drive better, kind of like going to weight watchers meetings! I have gone ahead and listed my car in the garage. I would like to build a MPGuinos to help my driving style and I think it would be a good way to learn basic electronics.

I have always heard that increasing the tire pressure makes the times wear in the center. My main goal is to save money. Just want to make sure that the cost of replacing the tires sooner is less than the fuel savings?

read some of the posts on tires.
I run 43psi on kuhmo 245/50/18 on my Infiniti Q45. I'm on my 5th set of tires (255,000 miles on the car) I get about 40-44k per set which is the expected range on this tire. I have never had the center wear first.
The center wearing is from bias ply tires.
It's gonna take alot of psi to make a steelbelted tire pucker!!!

The key thing is not overdoing anything beyond your comfort level.

It has been mentioned many times on here that 5-7 extra psi will help a lot without
losing tire wear. A balanced line also is the ride quality. You don't want to go so high to be waring out shocks, struts, early.

Every veh. has different feels, so oranges to apple comparisons are difficult.

You just need to experiment this for yourself.

Welcome! Plenty of info to be found here.
