Odd enough, some folks survive (yet often missing a limb or more than one) extremely high-voltage discharges.

Highest voltage I ever stuck my finger in was 800V. It was in a TV repair course. I suspect low wattage.

Did someone mention 48V on wheels?

Suposedly some old TV's have voltages as high as 30,000 volts!

My Sony Trinitron is acting up. I think it might be arcing.

Think early trinitron projectors were 75kv. I know they were shielded for Xrays. You know when HV is arcing, it sounds like a bug zapper in the Louisiana bayou

I don't know the exact voltage, but I remember seeing high-voltage warning stickers while dismantling old CRT TVs prior to discarding them.

The scary part is that they don't necessarily discharge that voltage when turned off and unplugged.

But it's a low current fatal discharge

That's why I didn't try to dismantle some parts with the high-voltage warning label. Not sure if those parts were still holding any charge once disposed of, as that TV had been off and unplugged for a while, and capacitors tend to have a faster discharge rate than a battery.
