Oddly Satisfying

This works as a proof of concept. The $50 servo motors are weak, and the arms are too flexible.

It starts with a 2D concept which is essentially a Watts 4-bar with the bars crossed. In 3D three bars works but four don't.

But it has an ingenious gear lash ajustment and it just mesmerizing to watch.

The mechanism is totally different, but watching it reminded me of this:

The red pentagram kinda spoiled it for me.

I imagine that the mechanism would be less wobbly if the links were made from metal extrusion, instead of plastic. Chamfered and drilled. Solve the cost per servo and one could make a snake or tentacle.

Tentacles over pentagrams any day, right?

I'm about to buy a 3d printer any day now.
I wasn't going to be making robots, more like "mobile devices " and parts for "mobile devices".

I'm thinking Creality cr-10 and build it up to run nylonX for prints subjected to heat and shock.
A typical 220x200 and 300mm tall one does most of what I can think if making, but a 300x300 and 400mm tall one does most everything in the plane I would want to do it in.
It looks like I live in the ideal climate to do nylon
