Thank you sir! Great job with this.
I just rode in this morning, driving about 40 miles with the new knob installed. Functions great, and is effortless to shift around with.
The little plastic button rattles inside the knob though. I wonder if I should spray it or dip the sides of the button with some Plasti-Dip?!

You could try that.
Another idea is just dab some grease on the inside of it. That should make it stick a little, but still move nice.

Double check on Honda-Tech.com, but I believe the Insight would have the same thread pitch as any other Honda. If it's got a stick shift, it should be the same. What does your shift knob look like on the Insight?

I couldn't take it off due to my kill-switch being on it, but this is what it looks like.

^^ Yes, the "OG Spec" knob should work on your Insight
