C-Max at 17,000 miles and counting......

Hey Guys,

I wanted to check in and let you know my experience with my C-Max since purchasing it in November......

At this point, I have averaged 44mpg for the 17,000+ miles of ownership. This is quite a feat considering it has been through the winter with 300 pounds of equipment that I have logged these numbers.

My impression of the car? ------ AWESOME!!!!!

Now, I know people tend to be partial to any new car they buy. So, I understand that may be playing a part in my enthusiasm for this car. However, I have owned many cars and this is the best car I have ever owned, period (and that includes comparing it to our Toyota Highlander). This is not just the FE that I am talking about. This car is the most comfortable I have ever owned and ------ Wait for it ------ the FASTEST car I have ever owned (I have obviously never owned any quick sportscars ).

I have yet to have anyone get around me at a light. I even had a BMW X5 try hard to pass me before a merge and they lost.

Anyway, it is not a Corvette, but it is not a Chevette either. This is a quick, comfortable, FE car.

The only downside is the freaking BUGGY Sync system. That thing freaks out multiple times per day. They are tiny bugs, but it is frustrating on a $30K car.

At any rate, I plan on doing the usual aero mods this spring.

Oh, my MPG averages 52+ as long as the weather is over 55 degrees.

Matt

My latest tank shows 605 miles with 53 miles of gas left. AFAIK, that is the highest mileage of anyone on the fordcmaxhybridforum. It looks like I will go well over 650 miles on this tank (13 gallons). The current highest miles in one tank on the C-Max forum is 642 miles.

I had one really good trip today of 45 miles at 60.6mpg. That was averaging 30mph. Highway mileage is not the greatest, though. But, I rarely ever do any highway driving.

I will post a picture of the trip odometer as soon as I refill today.

I have been keeping track of my miles on a 3X5 card.

This is the latest tank.

The highest mileage I have ever seen on the C-Max forum was 642 miles.

I believe this is a new benchmark for this car.

The tank is 13.5 gallons. Looks like I can hit 700 miles on a tank if I really discipline myself........

So those EV numbers next to the trip miles are the miles in EV? That's pretty impressive that you can do 2/3-3/4 of your driving in EV mode. I don't think I could ever get my Escape to do more than 50% in EV even under ideal conditions. Its cool to see how far these vehicles have come in less than 10 years.

I bet if its like the newer insight warmer humid air should help to increase the mpg.

Yes, warmer weather really helps, assuming I am not running the AC.

And, yes, those are EV miles driven. Typically the engine only runs about 1/3 of the time.

Here is a 1,000 miles of driving.
