Just to be clear, that's the motor-generator that is the subject of the Hot-rodding the Toyota MGR thread? Because I've been lurking in this thread waiting for that news.
I've got one on a bench, and a donor vehicle.

freebeard, is it really easy to turn the 2 things with the 4 bolts sticking out of them on the motor? When you turn one clockwise, does the other turn counterclockwise? Also, do you get any sort of voltage when you measure between 2 phases and spin the 2 things with the bolts sticking out of them? I"m having technical difficulties I think getting the actual hidden motor inside to spin when I manually spin those 2 things with the bolts sticking out of them.

Perhaps this will help. The axle flanges would need to move together to eliminate the differential action.
I haven't tested it at all.

OK I took the whole motor apart (I thought people could be away for the day), and figured out what you were talking about freebeard. Force both of those things to turn the same way and the motor spins. I've got the resolver working now. Unfortunately I refilled it with transmission fluid before putting the 2 things in with the 4 bolts on them, so my shop got filled with transmission fluid. I definitely didn't miss my calling as a mechanic. haha. It shouldn't be long now before the motor spins. Maybe tonight, but first my wife wants to go to Ikea.
jack: I got mine from Eclipse. I think he got it on Ebay. I forgot what to search for to find it though.

eclipse's thread is here:

It is suspended by a spreader bar with mounts at the top front, and a single round rubber puck at the rear.

I've got the "saliency adjuster" code working, so it can run an interior permanent magnet motor now. well, I'm going to switch back to the Toyota mgr and get that working now that I know it works with the leaf. Here's a video of the leaf. Notice how much smoother it is and doesn't come to jerking stops anymore:

I was writing back and forth to a guy on youtube. I think I know what's been wrong with the toyota MGR motor code! It's a true synchronous reluctance motor, which has a different method of control for its best torque per amp (according to that guy who seems very authoritative haha). You evidently do:
Id = currentMagnitude/sqrt(2)
Iq = currentMagnitude/sqrt(2) * sign().
That would explain the behavior I was seeing. Oh mama I hope it works. hahaha. No wammy no wammy, STOP! I still don't know how to hook up the friggen thing, but it's only like 48 possible combinations, so I'll figure it out.
