Yeah but even BMW said they were complete carp.

You know you want a TDI - TDI = Every day. 6 Cyl = Track Day

hmm 6cyl with lpg and sensible driving+some aero should net 40mpg and cost equivelent of circa 65mpg..
That's tdi territory and much more fun..

I'm also able to have track fun should i finish building the m30 3.5 setup i have.

As for the 318td i'd rather walk!

the 325tds is ok apart from hot starting issues and an£800 fuel pump that doesnt like veg..

Later 320/30d's treat turbos as 100k service items.

Vag tdi if its cheap and available in the next month, or i go back to e30..

Not bothering me too much at the mo as have 15 countries to do in 10 days plus a stag do:-)

roll on tuesday!

I'm seeing double...

The 318 was awful, and it has the same issue as the 325 with the pump keyed to the car and not even the speed to make up for it.

The E46 320d has vanes or something in the manifold which come away and lunch the turbo I think. Knew a guy who had one as a company car and it did this on the journey back to the leasing company with their driver at at the wheel after he had handed it back for a new one - 60K miles, full BMW service history. They tried to blame him but his company who leased it told them to get stuffed, and then handed back all of their cars and swapped companies. Nice revenge I thought.

If you want the full veg experience then one of those old Merc things seems a good bet - 250D, 300D or even a 190D perhaps a 2.5 suffix in the case of the last one.

Something like this ?

Hmm tempted but a little far away for me.

that has to be one of the cars outside of the VAG group I'd love, along with the old diesel W123 Merc estate I had. don't think I ever lifted the bonnet on it - never needed to. ex farm car, used it to carry engines, 'boxes, friends, pets, trees. TOTALLY over engineered, chain driven timing, Mech fuel injection and an understressed auto. bought it for 500quid sold it for 800, with not MOT/Tax !!!

Skoda Octavia. DSG Transmission: No ATF?

I just acquired a Skoda Octavia 2009, AT diesel.
Transmission is automatic with triptronic. Howwever it is called DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox).

I cannot find the stick for controlling ATF level.

Does someone know about this kind of AT transmission? Does it use ATF or not?

Thanks in advance.

Old Beaver
