30+ is far above the norm for the 3sp, congrats

it only shows the 2.2L with the 3sp auto so i gess you must have the 2.2L

chamber?

If you were to add a bit of chamber to the car's alignment would that have any benefit since less tire is touching the ground while traveling in a straight line?

Although cavaleres are hardish to find in MT varieties in the wild. Thanx to the youthfull buyers of Cobalts there are MANY in junkyards, since the motor is the same find yourself a MT Cobalt XFE junkyard the transmission should drop in easy as butter and best of all its geared higher than your Cavalere could come stock from the factory. I would guess a couple hundred to mod your Cavalere into a lighter Cavalere XFE.

Should be no trouble reaching 40mpg after that one mod.

Dkinsell, I made a under pan from a trashcan that blocks that gap between the radiator support and the engine trans. There are plenty of bolts you can use under there to hold it up. Once it cools down I'll go back to the blocking the huge lower mouth.
