I see the A-500 listed for $330 on Auterra's website (303 at Amazon). That looks like a pretty nifty gizmo. It even data logs and records, and does performance timing. How big is the display? Are the figures readable? That was my biggest concern.

Thanks. For sales purposes, methinks DashDyno should put this feature front and center. Maybe I'll send them an e-mail suggesting that.

The strange thing is these companies NEVER mention MPG in their marketing materials.

Interesting device, cool in fact.

Price seemed steep so I went to the website. Kiwi seem to be advertising $199 just now, so looked at getting one as that is not too bad in real coin of the realm. However on checkout they wanted to add around 80 dollars for shipping to Europe. Maybe this would be less in the US.

I can fly to see Piwoslaw's 307 from the UK return for less so no thanks...

It is available for 279 Euro here but still steep for me as I'm wondering about it working with a TDI.

However in the meantime if you are in Europe the SG2 seems to have also dropped in price - now only 149 Euro including shipping from here so ordered one.

Hopefully should be a project for installing next weekend, after I have done extra brownie points jobs for Mrs A to mitigate the CC bill arriving.

Ahem....

I would have bought one via EM to support the site but I'm still waiting for my stickers after paying for them a while ago, not that I'm hinting or anything, again...

TDI = no offboard mileage computer for you.

Actually I don't know of any MPG computer that will work correctly with a diesel, certainly not the scanguage and I doubt anything else for that matter.

I'm OK for mileage with built in comp so hopefully will get some other goodness in terms of readings. Particularly interested in temps given debate of temp on efficiency in a diesel...

We shall see, otherwise it can go on fleabay or stay until I change cars - possibly end of year possibly not given the age of austerity over here.

...my buddy has a TDI Jetta with the stock, built-in, dashboard display for MPG, so one has to wonder how the Bosch (?) electronics goes about computing the numbers...if they can do it (MPG) so should others.

The built in one is not all that accurate though, maybe SG one is as inaccurate too ? We shall find out...

EDIT PS - This assumes I survive after Mrs A works out I have bought one...
