Yay! ecomodding getting some props but I couldn't resist this:

"Although the EPA rates the Cruze Eco—with the manual gearbox—at 42-mpg highway, we saw noticeably better. ...but we didn't expect the Prius-like 48.6 mpg the Cruze's computer said we achieved."

Could this possibly be due to an optimistic computer? Nah, must be dead accurate.

...with 17 tank fillups under our belt, our average ACTUAL vs. DIC MPG reading ratio is 0.95 for our 1.4LT LTZ with A6 transmission.

...although the Eco's M6 transmission is different, the dashboard DIC display apparently are identical (except for Eco's additional INST.MPG display), so I'd suspect the article's DIC-derived MPG values are likewise about 1/0.95-percent TOO optimistic.

So using that 48.6 becomes 46.17. That's still pretty good mileage. I stand... Or rather, I sit corrected.

OTOH, 46 is pretty low for a Prius. ( what can I say? I love to snark )
