Possible upside of high gas prices

Gas prices could reduce auto deaths by one-third, study says

Makes sense.

Driver skill could solve most problems... god forbid people become responsible for their actions though... Have you seen Ford's new technology? The car flashes lights and tells you when stop lights and stop signs are coming up.

Interesting study though. That is, until everything goes MadMax style and we start fighting for gas.

[...] But the man who creates the music is hearing something else, is dealing with the roar rising from the void and imposing order on it as it hits the air. What is evoked in him, then, is of another order, more terrible because it has no words, and triumphant, too, for the same reason. And his triumph, when he triumphs, is ours." -Sonny's Blues

I agree with the study since fewer vehicles and aggressive drivers driving on the road. Does it mean the car insurance should go down????

yeah when we get "gas rage" at the pumps then deaths will go up.

I love going to the gas station.. well unless i get a low average MPG rating on my tank, but seems now with my car, no matter how crappy your drive it you can always get better mileage than a hybrid.. so thats good

I couldnt agree more, the more you idiot proof something the more the operators feel that they can be idiots when operating.

We'll go Mad Max for clean water and arable land before we rage on gas. I hope. Sometimes people forget that mankind got by without the great god Oil but no food and water? Not so much.

The problems of no food and no water will be solved as they have always been, war, disease, starvation. If you believe that gas, fuel, are not part of that mix I hope you've got a deep hole with lots of food and water, sorry, that's just how it is. We really aren't that civilized, only on the surface. Yeah, they got along without the great God oil for a long time, but now we know how powerful it is, there's no going back, not peacefully. Not so much.

Oh, it's always in the mix. I just wanted to prioritize. We'll go back kicking and screaming. I'd like to think people would put water/food over oil... maybe I'm being too naive?
