I'm looking forward to this. Lest year the power company swapped out our old mechanical meter for an electronic one. I'm going to keep an eye on this and let everyone know how it goes.

mine is the digital style meter but the last bill they did an estament on our useage (200kwh higher then what the meter read) so I don't know if they are just not set up yet to deal with them or what, as I thought they would get instant remote readings for our billing.

dremd, thanks for the links.

I have the project to get my near real time consumption from the meter since a year but I don't know how to use an iron...
Here is a simple transcoder to get that information from a French meter :
Hardware:CompteurEdf - MacodaWiki
(I have no idea if you have that TeleInformation pins (I1/I2) in a US meter and if they use the same protocol)

Denis.

PS good news, someone is selling one with a USB or serial interface
Teleinfo - 1. Présentation - Aperçu
PPS dremd, I permitted me to post your links on ecorenovator : Google PowerMeter - EcoRenovator
