Exclamation How much is a D15B6 HF engine worth?

I've been hunting an HF transmission for my CRX, and I've found a source that wants to sell me the whole engine/transmission all bolted together with a new distributor. Would anyone on the site be interested in just the engine and distributor? How much is it worth? I'd love to buy his setup because the transmission is there, but I don't want to pay extra for an engine that I'm not going to use. I'd be willing to split it up with someone here if they're (you're) interested in the engine.

Located in Dallas, TX.

I would compare it to local junkyard prices...

Last trans I pulled out was $175.. I forget what complete engines go for..

Junkyard offers a 30day warranty.. That is usually one my bargaining chips for buying some "useless drivetrains" because they don't make power..

I offered a >150k HF engine/trans here for $500 or best offer. I sold it elsewhere for $450.

My local charges $200 for an engine, $125 for a trans out the door, and that's without accessories, etc.

It costs about $150 to ship a Honda engine. It's almost guaranteed to be freight.

well let me tell u ...

u will get some more power from the a6... but u will lose that mileage but not by alot...

i am not accurate with my mileage... but when i had my b18a1 in my hf ... i filled up the tank which is 10 gallons i believe? 24$

went down to omaha... a 4 hour drive... i arrive with over half a tank of gas which is probably 6-7

so wat im trying to say is... if you put a good mileage motor, but yet alot more stronger... it takes less load, and by load i mean less gas useage to get up to speed. which willl get you to your destination without burning as much fuel as it would be needed in the original car.

^^^ That's not right at all...

More power is detrimental to efficiency, generally. It's not a steadfast rule, because there are other factors, but using less pedal to get the same power means you're at a lower efficiency because you'll have higher pumping losses as the air tries to bypass the throttle plate.

The 'ideal' setup would run 80-100% at peak BSFC. This would return pretty much the absolute max fuel economy you'll get from a specific engine setup.
