Why the change of batteries

Hi Jack
A bit late, but I have been pondering this question for a while. Why did you move away from the Lithium battery banks, was it eas of use or are the later Lifepo4 (are the ones you used4s) better, cheaper.
There is a lot of noise on the net about different types of batteries and claims, but I have not been able to find a satisfactory answer.
Hank, lives downunder in 43 degrees.

Folks , sorry for a lack of updates in the thread been busy with work etc on the run up to Christmas. Thought I had hit a roadblock recently (visions of the Vanishing Point bulldozers!) when I couldn't fit a 2.8 ratio diff as planned due to different flange sizes on the half shafts and prop shaft. Thankfully getting to grips with it so just means swapping the half shafts and a bit of custom driveshaft work.

@hankjay All my batteries are lithium iron phosphate. The cells in the E36 are headway cylindricals that I really could not recommend due to performance and inconsistencies but they got my feet wet so to speak. Cells in the land yacht are 180Ah CA series from CALB.

I just found this as I explore the forum.
I'm working on doing something similar with my wife's 2002 Lincoln LS.
Its a fine handling car, but it is a gas pig.
I have the factory 5 speed transmission on the shelf so I won't be wasting time with the crap-tastic factory automatic transmission when I convert it.

Driveshaft now in. Just waiting on the cells. Supposed to be delivered today but of course didn't arrive. Typical couriers!

What model Getrag are you using? I'm asking because the Lincoln LS uses a Getrag that is also used in some 3-5 series BMW's, so I might be working with the same transmission.

Sorry for the double posting of the question. I'm having some issue with refreshing the forum posts on this computer.
My laptop is stuck at my house, which with yesterday's snowstorm and traffic issues, I'm not able to get to yet..
