.66 liter engine.

I want it... but it's only going to be released in Japan

Looks fast. It better have a turbo to match the appearance of the vehicle... or at least make it less embarrassing to actually drive.

Is the engine in the boot?

I know it's an inline three. I know.

But I look at that displacement and this is what comes to mind.

All joshing aside, I've always been a fan of the kei-class cars. I keep thinking that they could be well received in the States if we didn't have so many o'erweening mandatory safety requirements. Then again too, the smart made it. Certainly some kei-class examples could make it too?

I want one. (Actually, even better would be for Mazda - Autozam - to release a contemporary AZ-1.)

They've produced something like this before, in the early 1990's. Why does Japan get all the cool cars!?

Honda Beat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EDIT: Just watched the youtube vid posted, it also shows the Beat and some info about it.

Actually Honda's first car was the S500, then S600, then S800 which was never imported into the US, while the first two models were imported into the US.

Honda S600 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since they came to the US before crash and emissions regulations prevented their importation, they would still be available, but good luck finding one at any reasonable price.
I drove an Austin Healey Sprite in my senior year in high school 1967-68 which was comparable to the Honda. The Sprite would be a neat car to upgrade to a modern engine and powertrain combination and it was a very light car. Even as a teenager I managed to get 32 MPG in the Sprite, when gas was 32 cents a gallon.

Austin-Healey Bugeye for Sale | Hemmings Motor News

This is the type of Sprite I owned, actually had two of them, one nice one and one that was ragged out. Paid $400 for the nice one. Oh how times have changed, used to stick my surfboard in the passenger compartment and hit the oceanfront at Virginia Beach before 9:30 AM when surfing was allowed anywhere on the beach. My aunt had a beachfront home and I slept in the servants quarters over the garage. She lined up friends who wanted their cars detailed which provided me with spending cash. Her husband had a Rover 2000.

Mech
