Thermical treatments are meant to increase rigidity, as they decrease tensions which are caused by the impact while moulding/forging.

You guys were right. I'm learning.
Beating up the metal did not make it more rigid.
I also found that removing the 1/8" foam backing did nothing. There is the same, if not less noise, and just a bit less frontal area.
I tested the area of the wheel that rubs.
I was surprised to see that the sidewall doesn't even make contact in full turns, despite having a raised ridge .
The areas that do rub are the top corner where there is blue and green paint.

Didn't really surprise me. The tread is usually much more critical in that regard.
