Many people refuse to believe that we don't live in a meritocracy where the best skilled person gets the job.
In reality we live in a world were people get hired and fired based on their likability and ability to fit into the group. Yes, a minimum standard of technical skill is usually required but that is not the deciding factor between candidates.
