chase car videography

Ideally,a chase car should be no closer than 30-feet from the test car,as it's presence will alter the local airflow.

What a clever idea !
Put a net up with tufts just behind the car. It would show the vortex size as you see in the image. Thanks for posting !

I thought of using a cardboard 'spine-fin' with tufts sewn into it to show the flow behind my car, but I never considered a net like this.

The netting idea is a good one. I looked at the Laminar [sic] 2.



The raised position is basically an open-wheeled car, which everyones says is bad. The lowered position is too bluff to create downforce, but carries a rat nest of turbulent air along. It's basically the world's worst wheelwell.

Laminar 2 is the second iteration of a design concept that investigates the use of a adjustable front wing system to increase a vehicles aerodynamic efficiency and down-force without a compromise on either.
