By all means, the more perspective on the issues the better.

For me tufts seem less intuitive, requiring intense examination and analysis when compare to smoke which just seems to flow effortlessly.

Up for consideration were a few million dollars’ worth of classic Benzes from the 1950s: a 1952 W194 300 SL race car, a 1954 W198 300 SL production car and a 1951 W188 300S coupe. The results were interesting. The race car weighed in with a drag coefficient of .376 (wind speed 80.77 MPH) the production 300 SL was a close second at .389 while the 300S had a drag coefficient of .670.

Tufts are typically suitable for showing large to medium size flow field structures, depending on size of the tufts relative to the model. The easy installation also makes it a useful "quick-and-dirty" tool. Unlike the sublimation methods, tufts stay constantly active and is therefore suitable for wide slow sweeps, studying for example the conditions for stall.

This is the 'pumpkin seed' of which the Aerodynamic Streamlining Template is derived.Jaray derived his from a Cd 0.045 streamline body of revolution/airship form.Wolfgang Klemperer,who had his graduate degree in engineering in 1922 did the wind tunnel measurements for Jaray at the Zeppelin works of which they both worked.It measured Cd 0.13 in its 'best' edge configuration with wheels,on the 'ground.'
I used a Cd 0.04 body for the 'Template.'

I admit to getting a little excited when I first found the image today. I knew right away what it was, yet have never seen a photo of the model before.
