Crawl? Article says the average speed was 40 mpg. There are a lot of people driving say I680/I580 in the Bay Area who'd LOVE to be able to 'crawl' that fast :-)

Huh...I didn't know that:
1) TRD makes tires
2) said tires and the TRD bumper airdams are "weight-saving features"
3) electricity isn't a fuel, but rather a magical substance that appears in batteries and doesn't have to be counted in calculating mileage
Shoddy reporting of a cheap stunt. Now, we just have to wait for Tesla to do a lap in the Model S so they can claim infinite mpg.

This non-news was shared here already.
It makes no sense to go to a racetrack and then drive as efficiently as possible. Nobody is impressed with Toyota.

It's a bit like filling up at the top of the Rockies and EOC'ing all the way down

Right - 12.9 / (4.4Kwh / 33.7 ) = ~98.8MPGe. Add the tiny amount of gas, and it drops a bit from that.

True, but this thread coins 'Green Hell' (the nickname for the Ring)...
A Prius driving slow over a racetrack, that track, is Green Hell for sure!
