But you can't deny the emissions control devices pushed the prices up, and newer ones with more advanced features keep doing so. No wonder the downsizing trend is getting stronger

I agree with this, there is a certain reasonable level of emissions controls and really a certain reasonable amount of emissions that could be out the pipe uncleaned. For example if my car gets 100mpg, should I need a CAT? My Co2 per mile is WAY below everybody else.

Perhaps we need a more balanced emissions scheme, especially if it encourages vehicles that get say double, triple, heck quadrupole CAFE.

I also have found that you can't even find people or dealers to pay to fix certain problems anymore, no one wants to do simple brake & fuel lines and a seal on a yoke around here, it would be worth it for me just to save time but no, can't fix that.

That's why many of the Diesel folks hate EPA.
