Conserving Toothpaste

Thought I should share some of my thoughts about conserving toothpaste!

I've been doing that for years, only instead of a credit card I slide the tube across the edge of a table or a door frame. Very similar tubes are used for hand cream - when those can't be squeezed any more my Grandma cuts them in half and digs out what's left with her finger. You'd be surprised how much cream is in there! After cutting it open it lasts for another 1-2 weeks!

Dieselbeetle, have you been to Ecorenovator?

Oh, nice, that's a good idea, too.

I visited it for the first time today, actually.

I've heard of this also. Unfortunately, the majority of drones are unwilling to do so.

Light humor on my own expense: I'm gonna get false teeth eventually... I'll use less tooth paste than all you Kooky people.

Pro tip:

You only need a tiny dab of toothpaste/shampoo/most things of that nature. My stuff lasts a good 3-4 times longer than most people's I know.

Slightly off topic tip: Most soaps do the same thing... Find the cheapest, most effective one, and use it for everything. For example, it's not beyond me to shower and wash my hair with Dawn or Ajax dish soap. I've also used comet on my greasy hands.

My bro-in-law always has a bowl of laundry detergent next to the sink in his workshop to get rid of oil and grease, but using it isn't too good for your skin. I hate expensive soaps, with all their "fresh scents" etc., so I use a cheap soap, and when the bar has been worn down I wet a new bar and press the two together (another trick I learned from my Grandma). Why throw it away?

How to use baking soda to brush teeth:

Put some baking soda in an easily opened bottle, for example an old vitamin bottle.

Wet toothbrush.
Shake a small amount of baking soda from the bottle onto the palm of your hand (pill sized amount)
Use wet toothbrush to pick up baking soda from your hand.
Brush teeth as usual.
Rinse your mouth 3 times with water, otherwise the soda taste will linger.
