I wouldn't consider ours the disease... Excessive consumption is a disease, akin to cancer for earth.

Trouble with most soaps and even over the counter toothpaste is that it contains a carcinegen called cocamide sp?
I use masters miracle soap which is a very simple soap and brush my teeth, wash my hair and hands with it, best of all no more fluoride.
I still use other soaps but only for showering and washing hands and not constantly either.

I clean heavy soiling with sand, dry wash, baking soda paste, or even dirt, honestly. The rest usually wipes off, or a quick cleaning with soap/water, and your good to go.
Baking soda paste does alot more than clean your teeth well.

I have done all those things as well and agree that baking soda is never a bad thing, it increases the PH in your mouth which promotes GOOD bacteria and neutralizes the plaque acid.

My wife and I argue about this constantly.
She believes that "you have to put a long ribbon on the brush, like the commercials/ad shows. They make it and know how much you need to use"
I find a bit more than a pea is plenty. Been 30 yrs since my last cavity !

Heh, I wonder who is right? The commercials (who want you to use as much as possible) or the dentists (who dedicate their whole lives to taking care of teeth)?
P.S.
Yes, dentists also recommend a pea sized dot.

And with good reason, the thousands of poison control cases a year from toothpaste could be reduced.
