RedDevil's 2011 Honda Insight

Hi from Holland!
I bought a 2011 Honda Insight with just 1400 miles on it last October.
Did about 5 l/100 km or 48 mpg US unmodded in the first 3000 miles.
Aiming for 4l/100km or 60 mpg US with mods and sub-wheel-nut tightening.

My ecomods and plans:
- Fully blocked lower grille with insulation tube (done)
- 35W 5000K HID kit for the lows (done)
- LEDs in the front fog, parking, license plate, hood and door exit lights (done)
- block heater (will order soon, did some experimentation with a 1000W hair dryer... yeah)
- Aerodynamic covers for my steel rims (stock cheapo's on, will modify soon)
- Covers for the gap under the Insights front indicators (soon)
Rear antenna redesign; longer and horizontal, aero foot sleeve (soon)
- Front wiper cover/gurney (very likely, as the leading edge of the ridge between the hood and the windscreen has the right angle so it can support it)
- Rear bumper corner ridge to break the Coanda effect curling the airflow from the side to the rear (needs experimentation and verification)
- Regulated lukewarm air intake (need to be able to monitor intake temp for that: already tested removal of the air snorkel to draw air from the radiator)
- Rear wheel well covers like the Insight mark 1 has (just maybe)
- Air intake turbine&dynamo to harvest energy from the intake vacuum on partial engine load, maybe combined with a compressor for better torque when accelerating (in my dreams)

I added this on my sons request: its the little bugger impersonating Cookie Monster on my avatar btw. Yeah, my DNA too.)

Welcome to the site.

Congratulations with already getting some pretty good mileage in the car. It also sounds like you got a good list of mods there! Can't wait to see them on the car.

Thanks!
Not that big an achievement though, I just stay below 100 km/h / 60 mph.

Here's a picture of my lower grille block with the insulation tubes painted black:

Guess you can work out the origins of my username

Anyway, I might replace this with a foam bulge of some kind extending slightly ahead of my license plate to divert the air sideways and upwards rather than downwards and ditch my plan to ecomod the car without changing its appearance in the process.
But first of all the low hanging fruit; HID, LEDs, trailing edge ridge/tape, flush wheel covers and such.
