Rerouting exhaust and belly pan idea

What about moving the tail pipe to the middle and above the rear bumper so the exhaust is filling the low pressure area behind the rear of the vehicle? It would also increase exhaust flow

For the belly pan, what if it was sealed all around, then the front would be ducted to just below the windshield, and open to the rear just above the bumper. this would allow the high pressure area under the windshield to push air into the low pressure air behind the car.

Best idea ever, I know! Ad of course, add a k&n air filter

Are you on crack?

The K&N was just the icing on the cake.

Frank,

Tells us how you really feel.

(Moments like this soar above the 100+ posts a day about the
mundane matters of aerodynamics, MPG, and fuel efficiency
that I feel compelled to slog through eah day.)

Someone's been watching too much F1. Unless you're driving a screaming formula car or are revving the engine hard enough to sound like one, the exhaust flow isn't that energetic.

Besides... most cars already have the pipe pointing straight into the low pressure area in the vehicle's wake, anyway.

I got it, and I figured it kinda makes sense! except I doubt there is enough flow to make much of an impact. Maybe with a boat tail like I have outlined in the attached picture, It may make a small difference.

Please take a look and maybe you'll understand what he meant. Again, i doubt there would be any measurable difference. plus it would be offset by the weight of the added pipe. The blue is the exhaust pipe forcing the gases to exit right in the wake

K&N air filter though?

Yeah... but don't most exhausts open out in that area, anyway?

I think what he wanted to do was have the exhaust exit where the license plate or badge exits on a regular car, into the low pressure wake behind the car... which I don't think is much different from simply spewing it out behind the bumper.

K&N... supposedly K&Ns increase fuel economy... supposedly.

A K&N filter on the exhaust would be something to see.

Now there is an idea, maybe I will help clean the exhaust for cleaner emissions

Doesn't every little bit help? Is that not why you guys delete mirrors and duct tape grilles?

I'm sure nobody here is really aware of if it'll make a noticable difference or not. If you think it really will I suggest testing it and sharing your info.
