RIP Caroll Shelby

An automotive great died today and we in the ecomovement must hold him as an icon and inspiration in automotive innovation and pioneering. I find myself as excited in finding economy as I am sure he was in power and speed. We are pioneers in this new endeavour as Carroll was in his. We salute you...zoom zoom.

He was certainly a legend, definitely one of the true greats of the automotive world. He will be missed. It is a very sad day, the automotive world has lost a few big names in the last year or two

He was truely a Texan.
bigger than life and did it 'just because!'
He hated porshe so bad that he convienced Ford to give hime their new small block V8 289 to put into a rundown 4cyl sports car the "AC Bristol". lot of welding and 4 flared fenders later.....289 AC Cobra. won the world title. 63 64
Then he took the back seat out of the fastback mustang so he could compete as a 2 seater with the GT 350.
Next the BEAST 427 AC Cobra. Was the first car (1967?) to go from 0-100 - 0 in 13 seconds. Held that record for YEARS(20+)
The aero dynamic on the datona coupe were truely amazing for the mid 60s.

Not to be a picker of nits but the first Cobras were 260s.
RIP Carroll Shelby, a man who outlived his original heart.
Amazing.
