First ACTUAL mod.

just had a front tyre blow out on a backroad at about 50-ish mph...... not fun.

then the tyre place didn't have any 175/65/13's so I got a pair of 165/70/13s if they do the job I might buy some for the backs too!

not liking the 165's - grip is fine, just the coast down seems worse

going to investigate tracking

The 165s are within 1% of the diameter (and circumference) of the old ones.
The 165s are slightly taller and should give some 0.64% lower revs.

Tracking wouldn't change when swapping tyres, would it ?

If they're a different make and type, it could well be down to the difference is RR between the tyres.

different make and i'm just worried that when the front tyre exploded (reason for the swap) it did some over damage - like throwing the alignment out... or killing a few 15 year old bushes

Did the rim hit the road hard ?

Don't think so but I was fully occupied trying to keep it from going into oncoming traffic


I do remember there being a Hell of a lot of noise and vibration. oh and the look of panic of the face of the lady in the fiesta coming the over way..... Iprobably looked worse though!
