It sure is! I was not the genius that came up with them, though!

My engine started overheating on big hills before I figured out how to automate the shutters and it was still getting warmer, so I gave up.

If anybody wants some of those motorized vents to experiment with, let me know. I bought way too many.

How did the vents hold up in the wind at highway speeds? Did the wind push the fins open? Did they stay shut?

I put a little window in the cardboard air dam. Drove it this morning shut but the engine got hot so I blasted the heater. An adjustable vent is a great idea if it will hold up. Especially after driving 5 miles down an unplowed road in the winter :-P

If the window turns out to be too small, instead of making it bigger, you might consider forming a bell mouth. That would allow air to enter easier.

That's a good idea. I was messing around with the cardboard some more and made a little kammback off the trunk lid tonight. I find myself hesitating to commit to a more permanent design for the air dam because the winter snow. I want to go full on nascar, but maybe I should leave the bumber stock for now and build a belly pan.....I just put snow tires on today.

I think they stayed shut, but I don't drive very fast.

Typically, "geared" vents will hold their positions under aero-loads, while "bang-bang" vents don't.
