One of my friends figured out how to do that on his Mazda 6. He put a couple 5mm High Flux Piranha LEDs (Component LEDs - Super Bright LEDs) into the taillight housing and linked them to a push button. He also put a couple in the Reverse lights as a secondary warning light (though it is very illegal to use).

The problem with lights is they only work with your foot on the brake pedal.

I like this reflector idea, been thinking about doing it as a modest strip on my PU tailgate for a while now.

I went sort of crazy with reflector tape on my flat 8x12 snowmobile/hovercraft trailer. However that did not prevent someone from side-swiping me. It was just a little bump, and I have rubber hose all along the edges so no damage.

Here is one for the record books, how unobservant and reckless do you have to be to back into a Zebra Striped Geo Tracker? The guy hit and run me, but witnesses took down the description and plate number. My wife got on their insurance companies back and they paid a fair rate to us.

Kach22i, the fact that you were still hit even with that paint scheme is proof that "Nothing can save you from the stupid".

IMO the best idea is to install camera (or fake cam) in rear window (_it have to be visible_) - it works perfectly as prevention - deters mindless drivers they also driving more carefully and try not to break the law.

to my highly reflectorized friend; My best advice for your driving is to be found as follows:

Under Hypermiling/EcoDriver's Ed. section on page #1 go to the subject: "Some hypermiling questions"
There is 3 pages of info there; my 2 cents worth is on page 2. I'm noticing now looking at the rear of your car, that it appears that you have the SI model. That is the hot rod model for the CRX's! Am I correct in assuming that your car is an '86 or '87?

Factory fuel injection came stock on all the 2nd gen. CRX's ('88 on) All of the 1st gen., came w a factory carb EXCEPT for the SI version. The SI has different gearing which may be more suitable for racing, but the lowly carb version (to some people) tends to lend itself to the higher mpg's. You might want to swap for a non SI transmission if you think you will keep this car long enough; and mostly HOW MUCH you want the real high mpg., if $$$ wise it's a better choice for you or not!

The driving tips will improve whatever you get to an extent though. You'll have to stew that around in your mind. Best to ya!, Aloha!
