I work with folks that worked on the Saturn Bonneville stuff. I'll ask if that was a wind tunnel developed setup. If so, I may be able to find some data.

Just a minor correction--the Jetta LSR did not have a decklid extension when I saw it at the LeMay Museum in 2014, or in the photos from Bonneville.
Threadjack over. Carry on!

That would be wonderful! It’s really hard finding good data for something like the Saturn I drive...

Thanks Vman! I didn't think senility would come on this fast! It's good to have extra sets of eyes out there.

So I’m working on my deck lid extension again... I’ve got support brackets made to hold the coroplast up(it’s free so I can’t justify buying a different plastic), and now I just gotta make a cardboard template to trace onto the coroplast... I’m gonna shoot for about 4” of extension, hoping it’s enough lol... too long would require more support and might look weird...

Subscribed. I might copy this if it turns out well for you and you get positive results from its implementation. Tryin' to follow in the footsteps of the great.

I wouldn’t call me “great” but I’m tying to continually make progress of some kind on my build... this is actually about the most in depth I’ve ever actually built a car

Apparently I’m not the first one to try this... just found this... if I were a member I’d be able to access his pictures but it’s cool to read about nonetheless

Well I have a prototype trunklid extension (spoiler) on my car for testing... I took some pics while I mocked it up on my parts car... I made it 4” out from the trunklid, matching its curve... initially I can’t tell much difference but ill do some more testing before I either scrap it or finish (paint match) it

Do you think 4" is long enough? It seems the point of this mod is for the airflow following the template to reattach....does the extension touch where the air flow would be following the template?
Kind of like this:
