RIP Smart Fortwo

Another small car taken out behind the barn and put out of its misery:

Confirmed: Smart Brand Dead in North America After This Year

Smart went EV-only a couple of years ago. Not surprisingly, that did nothing to arrest its sales decline. (Fiat 500, take note!)

Coincidentally, I noticed a new-ish Fortwo in my parents' neighbourhood recently. I eyed it carefully to see if it was the EV, but wasn't sure.

The Smart EQ only has a 58 mile range, goes 0-60 in 11.7 seconds, and starts at $24,000. We have 6 at work for pool cars and they are pretty horrible.

Mercedes kept it around to harvest ZEV credits. With the EQC coming for 2020 they don't need the Smart anymore

"What are the benefits of electric cars?"
[engineers start listing advantages]
"Let's design an electric car without any of those!"

I wish that I had been smart enough to make a post on April First about Ford discontinuing all vehicles under 5,000 pounds, with a real-looking link that actually sent you to my latest Imgur post.

"I created an account just to downvote you!"

Article says base Golf and Golf wagon may go bye-bye in the States. But the R and GTI will remain.

How did you get polio?

Maybe I’m missing a joke but the Polo isn’t going anywhere..

The news for the USA is that the base model Golf will be discontinued but the upper trims will still be available. In 2020 the cheapest Golf will start at $28,000.

Well, many people get it by coming in contact with the human waste of someone infected.

The Polo is Mini Golf?

I thought it was just the name for it in different countries.

The Polo is one size smaller than a Golf.

In the EU their are 6 classifications of passenger cars:
A-Segment car = VW Up
B-Segment car = VW Polo
C-Segment car = VW Golf
D-Segment car = VW Passat
E-Segment car = Audi A6
F-Segment car = Audi A8
