Sweet, lets see this one go better than the Tropica
A decent hobbiest solution is the best start since now we have few "Standard" methods to work with and none are very areodynamic.
I am already waiting for it to come into production so I can buy one.
Much easier to bypass problems when you leave some assembly required, especially legal issues

If you had a 217 mile range in 1996, where do you think you'll be at today?

I assume that refers to highway speed given a 90ahr 288v pack gave that range my guess would be a more conventional lead acid 200ahr 72v setup (which is easy to find) would give you about 40-80 miles range depending on speed. (just a guess) Until he completes #1 it won't be known how fast or far. And the SIZE battery pack also greatly affects range curves and weight with lead.
A lead sled is about the only way you get far with lead.

"A lead sled is about the only way you get far with lead."
So true
FYI, Donations made to the project now can be credited toward the purchase of a kit latter (details on Lee's website)

Ladies and gentlemen,
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has written a wonderful article about Lee and the Sunrise EV2. You can read it at the following link:
He's jazzed about the potential of electric

Lee is so dang awesome, I can hardly stand it. Every day he offers elegant advice on the evdl and the EVTech list. I've learned so much from him. I can't wait to see how his project turns out. I heard he had to go back working for the man to help make ends meet and raise money for the project. If the government sent a couple million his way, we'd be oil free in a month.

Hi,
In the process of looking for this thread, I found out that Solectria is now (owned by) Azure Dynamics, and they are located very close to me in Woburn MA. I had no idea...
I also found that someone recently sold a Solectria Sunrise:
Stephen Taylor's Solectria Sunrise

Lee Hart's Sunrise 2 Mule (sample car) is going to be ready for driving in a few weeks, assuming no major difficulties come up! ya!

Hi Paul,
Are you saying that the Sunrise 2 will be in Woburn, MA in a few weeks? It would be great to see it, that's for sure!

Assuming lee doesn't hit any major snags, yes! but it's just his test vehicle.

Last I talked to Tim Meddic, he and Lee had the crazy thing running up and down the driveway on a couple of batteries. I don't know what the status of the body is, but the frame is pretty much ready to go. I got to sit in it last winter and if things go as well as they were then, Lee's got a winner on his hands. Hopefully I'll see Lee at the EAA meeting this Thursday.
