Studded Winter Tires Rolling Resistance

Has anyone done any comparison of the rolling resistance of studded vs non-studded tires? I would think that a studded tire would have a higher RR and lower FE.

I think in order to do so, one would have to compare a set of studdable tires that both have and do not have studs.

Winter tires have aggressive tread patterns and soft rubber compounds ... not the best for rolling resistance.

Agreed, I'd love to run LRR tires year round, but living on a dirt road in central NH, it's not an option.
