I have an inexpensive 3/4" drive impact for big truck lug nuts and Honda crank bolts.

I only had the head bolts screech on my Subaru. Those only required a breaker bar, but the sound was thoroughly unnerving!

I met up and borrowed my cousin's 1/2" and 3/4" impact for the job. The not so great 1/2" impact (sanborn rated for 600ft/lbs) didn't do the job. I'm not sure the IR 231C would do it either at this point. So, I'll be trying the 3/4" impact next. I just need to get a 3/4" to 1/2" reducer and put a larger hose quick disconnect on the compressor.

This is the largest one of the 3 I use at work. It only gets used on bolts 5/8" and larger as it will strip or shear a half inch bolt if you're not careful.
