I have another solution, though.

A used diesel conversion van, full size, like a Chevy/Gmc with a 6.2/6.5 diesel or a Ford Econoline with the IDI 6.9/7.3. Or even a diesel pickup with a slide in.

Run it on waste oil in a dual fuel system.

Hey, I know how it is......

I've done the same thing as you, but for work.
This is brilliantly simple. And nothing should be cooler for a dirty hippie wandering the country than to have the eco-cred of burning fast food waste oil and making the city smell like fries! Wandering Yeti, you have found your technology. (BTW, I wandered in a 1989 Astro van for a while: tint any windows and build a curtain behind the front seats.)

See my car's mod & maintenance thread and my electric bicycle's thread for ongoing projects. I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

Yeah, my most recent job never saw my Love's card qualify.

CASITA, SCAMP or an older aero aluminum small trailer can be pulled behind nearly any vehicle. Find a turbodiesel and mod both.

But you need to drive far enough inside 'smell time' to make that offer work ?

The Electric moped seems like a good idea, if not or there are issues with charging then a small petrol one is probably going to be cheap enough to buy and run for local trips.

Good luck, I wish I could travel like this - it seems a cool adventure.
