Well, it's getting cold now. The average temperature was 23 degrees yesterday.
We had all big rooms open and heated most of house up to 72 and used a lot of juice.
14.20 kWh, the most we have used in one day.
At 20.1 cents per kWh, that comes to $2.85 in cash moola.
That's about the cost of one gallon of heating oil these days..
But, I'm pretty sure that we would have burned at
least three gallons yesterday.
So, we paid about 1/3 the normal price for heating yesterday.
The little power tracker says we have used 105 kWh this month. It's the 12th and
the day is almost over. 105/12= 8.75 kWh a day for the last 12 days.
8.78 kWh is about $1.75 a day. Last December we were burning an average of 3 gallons a day.
Last Dec, we were running hybrid heat. Oil + resistance space heaters.
Without the space heaters, it looks like the electric bill is going to be less!
(It was lower in November than it was in November 08).
We have had 313
Heating Degree Days this month.

Sanyo 24KHS72 AC/HP DIY install project - Page 13 - EcoRenovator
Unless it gets a
lot colder, I'm predicting an average of 10 to 13 kWh per day usage during the coldest months.
YES, the Sanyo has kept on pumping out the heat pretty well down at 20 degrees.
So far,
the oil heat has not come on. (it's set-back is 64 degrees).
Its starting to look like this project is going to be a real success.
I'll have to check, which cost less, the cable bill or heating the house??
My wife has been very pleased with the heating capability of the Sanyo.
And I know she is going to love the cooling mode next summer!
