Suzuki 1.0 Modifications?

I have a 1.0 Suzuki from a Geo Metro that I want to use in a narrowed 1927 Model T Ford. I've cut 5" out of its width (the T) and will be building what is typically refered to as a "one man modified". These were popular on the dry lakes in the 1930's/1940's.

I chose this engine because of it's size. I'm extremely limited on space under the hood. Space limitations also dictate that I run an automatic transmission (no room for a clutch pedal). I'll drive it locally but don't have any plans to put it on the interstate. "Power" isn't a huge concern with this one. As long as it runs and keeps up with local traffic I'm OK.

Is there an automatic rear wheel drive trans that will mate to the 1.0?

The distributor on my engine comes straight out the back of the head. If it would turn 90* and point straight up, it would save me a few inches in the length of the engine compartment. Is there a 90* adaptor that will work on my 1.0?

Thanks, Jim

Look into the Suzuki Samurai and Geo Trackers. I think that they might bolt to the Metro motor.

I think the Samurai 90* adapter wont work with the G10 engine. The camshaft on the G10 doesn't have the gear for the 90* to work. It's been a while, but I looked into this idea before.

For my G10 project, I mounted the distributor on the front of the engine and used a miniature cog belt to drive it. The belt system has over 8000 miles on it and is still working perfectly.

Be cautious with belts... people have been killed by belt-driven cars when the belt snapped.

Hi,

The belt is to drive the distributor on the G10 engine.

I would post a picture of my setup... but I'm a new member and I'll need three more posts before I'm allowed.

This is a picture of the G10 distributor relocation I did on my project.

I did a detailed photo essay on the modification in another forum.

The distributor modifications are on page three and four.
