OK. Tentative "Yes" on the USFRA World Of Speed run on Sept. 8-11 2012. I will solidify that after the winter. Guess I should start another thread for the progress.

Sept. 8-11 2012 sounds like a good time to take a 1000 mile tipe to the Bonneville salt flats to visit and tell big lies... about our trip and FE on the way there. We could also do a 100 mile loop FE run as an alternat aero contest...

The main limiting factors for me have been the travel distance, poor availability of speed rated tires in my size range, and the other expenses involved with meeting their safety requirements to run at Bonneville. Unofficially I've had it up 105 mph with lots of throttle still left and the wind load just starting to make itself felt.

The CRX was a challenge also.I was able to run a little taller tire but still couldn't go beyond 3rd-gear.4th and 5th are additional overdrives and she just couldn't handle the gear split without falling on her face.Which is intentional from Honda,to act as a governor.
I couldn't find smaller tires either that would have allowed me to run in 4th.
If the time ever came when you thought you might attempt it,your welcome to my firesuit ( 40-long),Nomex,Snell-approved helmet( 7-1/4"),boots( size-11) and fire extinguisher.
We'd pitch in on your fuel, fees, and membership.
I'm certain that the USFRA and SCTA folks would never be the same, and 'high-performance' aero for the street might enter the American lexicon after watching AeroCivic scream down the Salt.
It would be a great day.
Thanks for all you do Mike 'n thanks for taking the time to share your chops.

Aerohead- I've been reading up on the USFRA 130mph challenge and I don't see a fire suit requirement. You are thinking of the World of Speed weekend on Sep 8-11 2012, yes? I haven't looked at the 150mph requirements as I won't be hitting that speed. Honestly, I'll be happy with anything over 100mph with the impending diesel swap. Looks like a Snell 2005 helmet( or newer, metal valve stems and caps, 130mph + rated tires, long sleeves and pants, closed shoes(no sandals), valid reg. and insurance, 5 lb. fire extinguisher( secured), three point seat belts( no lap belt grand-father clause), and pass the safety check. They also require "secured" wheel covers, so I think I need to modify mine a bit .
I did start another thread to keep track of progress here .

I went ahead and invested in a firesuit, shoes, gloves,Nomex underwear, balaclava, and neck brace.I also have a race seat and SIMPSON 5-way harness.
It's overkill for the 130 Club but I intend on doing Bonneville as long as I can and I may move up to higher speeds.
There have been a few 'fires' at Bonneville and I want to fail on the safe side.
I will also run a tailfin and parachute with the trailer.Going sideways can damage the course and I' don't want the responsibility of ruining the other USFRA members day on the salt.
