Cars in america are starting to get much better quality interior finishes. The answer to the question of whether Ratan Tata can sell a car in the US for less than anybody else is most likely. But, it's going to have to look just as good as everything else, have a warranty, have a high safety rating, etc. personally, i think it'll be a flop.

It would need a complete re-engineering to meet both EPA and NHTSA requirements. It would be easier to dump the Indica in the American market instead of the Nano...

I will happily wager a shiney 2012 Olympics memorial pound coin that no Nanos will be imported into the US officially by Tata.
Assuming it did pass safety and emissions tests Tata would have to sell it so cheap that after import duties, transport costs, dealer network costs, spares backups and marketing any fluctuation in the dollar exchange rate could wipe out profits instantly.
Tata didn't get rich by taking silly risks like that.
The Nano works in India and Asia, not anywhere else.

Hmmm - these guys claim 15-25 k/litre consumption for the 2012 model.
20 k/litre = about 47 MPG US (~50-52 Imp) according to here.
Owners also report some scary motoring over 100 kph (62 MPH).

To achieve a low price, it's poorly built. Even those autorickshaw tricycles are made with higher-grade materials...

Tata is not renowned for build quality - the Indicar has a low reputation even in India. Saw someone driving a Tata Safari this afternoon - only 7 years old and it was totally falling apart. The pickups have disappeared from the roads here.

I've only seen few Tata SUVs, with Argentinian plates, and weren't so bad-looking. But locally-assembled Mahindras from Uruguay and Brazil clearly look better than their Indian CBU counterparts...

They actually did float. Not sure how deep the water had to be though.

I would assume the floor had to be in it though ? This "flood" didn't go over the tyres...

A Beetle can float for a LIMITED time, no more than a few seconds as far as I remember.
